Former Alice Fazooli restaurant razed to make way for construction of The Bond condo tower

Condo tower enclave at Adelaide & John

The Bond is the third building to commence construction in what’s shaping up to be a significant condo tower enclave at the intersection of Adelaide and John Streets. Directly across the street from the former Alice Fazooli site, the 43-storey Cinema Tower is approaching its topping-off, while construction of the 42-storey Pinnacle on Adelaide has just begun climbing above street level. Two more towers might join the group on the southeast corner of John & Adelaide — a 40-storey condo has been proposed for 283 Adelaide West (currently the location of a presentation centre for the Pinnacle project), while an application has been filed with the City for a 42-storey residential highrise right next door to that at 263 Adelaide West. And though nothing has been announced yet, I’m certain something big must be in the works for the 284 Adelaide West site of Hooters restaurant, a prime piece of corner real estate mere steps away from The Bond.

Meanwhile, for anyone feeling wistful about the demise of Alice Fazooli’s, there’s some good news. Canderel Residential, the developer of the 78-storey Aura condo tower currently under construction at College Park, has announced that a new Alice Fazooli`s will be opening in the condo tower`s mammoth podium.

Below are more photos showing demolition activity at The Bond site, along with a selection of neighbourhood pictures I’ve shot during the past two years.
