Canary District, River City, INDX & Bay Adelaide Centre East

This collection includes photos of some major construction projects I have not yet been able to report about on the website, including: the Canary District, site of the 2015 Pan Am Games athletes’ village where a new YMCA and a student residence for George Brown College are being built; the Bay Adelaide Centre East office tower, where demolition work is underway to prepare for construction of the 44-storey building; the INDX Condos  in the Financial District, where machines are drilling to set the foundation for the 54-storey skyscraper; and the River City condominium complex and the Toronto Community Housing Corporation West Don Lands rental buildings which are almost ready for occupancy on King Street East.

The album also includes photos tracking construction progress on what are already some of downtown’s tallest condo buildings — ÏCE Condos, The L Tower and Aura Condos at College Park — as well as other other residential towers that are making a big impact on the city skyline already, including the Residences of Pier 27 development on the waterfront at the foot of Yonge Street, the Gooderham and Clear Spirit towers at the Distillery District, and the Library District condominium highrise at CityPlace.

Axiom, Berczy, Backstage, Pace and Post House Condos

There’s also photos of Pace Condos, Post House Condos, Ivory on Adelaide condos, The King East condos and King+ Condos on downtown’s east side; Lofts 399 on Adelaide West;  Casa2 Condominium and X2 Condos on Charles Street East; The Berczy and Backstage Condos in the St Lawrence Market area; the new One32 Berkeley rental apartment midrise in Corktown and the nearby site for Axiom Condos at Adelaide & Ontario Streets.

Some commercial construction projects also shown in the album are the Delta Toronto hotel and Bremner office towers at Southcore Financial Centre; the Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada being built next door to the CN tower; the new Bridgepoint Hospital in Riverdale, where I got to photograph parts of the building interior during a media tour held as part of a ceremony marking substantial completion of the project; the Ryerson University Student Learning Centre; and a data centre at 43A Parliament Street near the Distillery District, where drilling machines are working on the site of the 5-storey building designed by Toronto’s WZMH Architects.

Hundreds of pics in three additional albums

Hundreds more photos of buildings and construction sites can be viewed in the three other albums I’ve already posted on the blog: December 2012, January 2013,  and February 2013.
